Complete Watch Servicing

WATCH REPAIRS:

We have an in-store clock shop where we repair and restore your heirloom timepieces. Our antique watch and clock repair specialist will inspect your watch or clock and provide a free estimate for repairs. We use state-of-the-art C&C automated equipment and our advanced machine shop gives us the ability to make any part necessary to complete any repair. We also have a vast inventory of antique and modern watches and pocket watches. We are so confident in our work that we offer a one-year warranty on all repairs.

There are many problems that may be responsible for your clock or watch not running correctly. As a timepiece ages, the years inflict wear and tear on the complex mechanism in the workings of your watch or clock. Dirt and rust can build up in the mechanism. The gears can wear their holes wider: both of these problems can cause your watch or clock to stop keeping correct time, or prevent it from running altogether.

We test and monitor your watch for one week before it's returned to you. This may take a little longer, but it allows us to ensure that your timepiece is truly repaired.

We work on all brands, makes and models. A few of these include:

  • Rolex
  • Cartier
  • Movado
  • Bulova
  • Patek Philippe
  • Omega

What is an Overhaul?

An overhaul is a complete servicing of a clock's mechanism. At James Douglas Jewelers, our technicians take a four-step approach: cleaning and inspection, oiling, repair, and testing. Each of these steps is performed with the utmost care to protect the delicate workings of your timepiece. First, we"ll disassemble and clean all parts individually with the aid of an ultrasonic cleaner. Our clockmaker then examines all wear points on the pivots, mainsprings, pivot holes, and other mechanisms to determine if any new brushings need to be installed or if any other parts or gears need to be remade.

House Calls:

We will gladly visit your home to inspect your grandfather clock or other heirloom timepiece, We charge a non-refundable fee for house calls up front to guarantee your appointment with us, and to cover the cost of travel and minor work during our visit. If we recommend an overhaul and you agree to have the work done by us, this fee becomes a deposit on the cost of the overhaul. If you decline the overhaul, the fee cannot be refunded.
